FISH

Large Goldfish
Large Goldfish

Please note:
Pricing of larger fish is a very subjective thing. It is not based on size alone, but more a combination of quality, markings and size.
Our aim is to price our fish fairly and competitively and welcome any feedback in this regard.

Please note:-
We only send our fish to NSW, Queensland and Victoria.
They are sent by courier and therefore attract a higher freight cost as follows.
$19.95- NSW or $24.95 for Victoria and Queensland

Unpacking Fish
When your fish arrive the water will be discoloured and although the bag contained Pure Oxygen (no air) when packed, the fish will have been using up this oxygen for the last several days. Also, the temperature and pH of the water in the bag will probably be very different to the pond or aquarium water in which you intend to place the fish. Your fish need to be introduced to their new water gradually. The fish will be blinded by light when you take them out of the carton. Be patient and give them time to settle down and relax in their new environment. It may be a few days before they eat and respond to your presence. Follow these steps:-

1. Place the sealed bag of fish into their new pond or aquarium water and allow to float for about 30 minutes.
2. Open the bag and introduce an equal amount of water from the pond or aquarium to what was in the bag.
DO NOT USE NEW TOWN WATER.
3. After about 10 minutes repeat step 2.
4. After another 10 minutes submerge the bag and pour the fish into their new home.

Town Water & Chlorine
Most “town” water supplies contain chlorine and chloramine which may be beneficial to purify water for human consumption, but it is LETHAL to fish. In high concentration plants can also be adversely affected. Aeration, fountains or waterfalls will speed up the release of chlorine by the agitation of the water surface. When starting a new pond or aquarium, or if you need to change more than 25% of the water at one time, a very high risk of poisoning will exist if using town water and the matter should not be treated lightly. We sell neutralisers (see Chemicals page) which neutralise chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals making the water safe for fish. They also contain a natural slime coat which is useful if fish have been handled.
